The Guild

Guild Dedication Service took place on Sunday, 6th  October 2024 at 10 am.

Guild prayer of dedication

In faith we now dedicate ourselves, through our worship, prayer and action, to serve you faithfully, to love you with all our heart, all our soul and all our mind and to love one another as your Son, Jesus Christ has shown his love for us.

Renew us, refresh us as members of the Guild as we continue on our journey through life. Guide our thinking and bless all that we do in your name, whose we are and whom we serve and in whose name we pray, Amen

Our first meeting takes place on Tuesday, 1 October at 7.30 pm in the Pitcairn Centre. Our speaker is our minister.

Everyone is welcome to the Guild and we would be delighted to have some new members so why not come along and join us?

We have a vibrant and thriving branch of the Guild in the Church. We meet at 7.30 pm every second Tuesday from October to May in our Pitcairn Centre. At present we have a membership of 48 ladies.

Each year we offer a varied syllabus of speakers on a wide range of subjects ranging from serious topics to more light-hearted ones. Our annual Floral Tea is a highlight of the year and is much anticipated in the local community. We celebrate Christmas and the end of the session with an outing usually to a local restaurant.

Each Easter we undertake the decoration of the Church and thereafter distribute the arrangements to sick, lonely or housebound members of the congregation. We also run a cake stall whenever there is a 5th Thursday in the month. Funds from this go to Guild funds.

Guild funds are disbursed at the end of each year to special Guild projects and to charities who have provided a speaker or on behalf of a speaker in lieu of a fee. Over the year this amounts to a considerable amount of money to good causes.

We are always on the lookout for new members and anyone interested should come along to any of our meeting or contact Moira Gray for further information.

Prayer Shawl Knitting group

Thank you so much for joining in our Prayer Shawl knitting group.

Message from the Manse:

A number of years ago I was given a prayer shawl by a minister friend of mine in Glasgow. It has been a very treasured gift and sits proudly on my prayer chair in the manse.

I feel it is a lovely way to extend our Ministry within the community with a tangible expression of our love. A shawl will be given to individuals whom we feel may need a little bit of support and comfort. Each shawl will be given with a card from the church.
